On Friday Trina attended Day 2 of the GlobalSkin Conference in Prague.
Here is her report:
Day 2: Start at 9.00am
Welcome and opening ceremony. Followed by a special presentation from
Nanée Emmerich who was born with Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN).
She was told she wouldn't survive but defied the odds.
She kicked off Day 2 with a powerful message, "stop hiding, start living!".
Trina attended the Plenary Session: Caring for the Mental Health burden of Skin Disease. She heard contributions from several organisations. Took many notes and 'takeaways' for PEM Friends to think about in the future to help increase the awareness of the Mental Health challenges faced by our community.
She then had lunch and chatted to a few patient leaders about all we had heard so far. Networking and sharing experiences is so important.
After lunch she took a walk round the Patient Organisations Exhibition area to look at the materials.

After lunch 2nd Plenary Session:
Scientific Challenges of Dermatology:
Everyone in the room took part in a live online survey looking at several questions. One of the most relevant for our community, what barriers have you encountered in finding an expert?

The afternoon then moved onto the 1st (of 2) learning sessions on Building a STRONG Sustainable Organisation.
This session explored key principles of good governance, financial sustainability, strategic planning and provided insights for how we can strengthen PEM Friends as a charitable organisation.
It was helpful to reflect on our governance documents and contemplate what needs to change moving forward, in this afternoon's session.

The final session of the day:
Trina attended the GlobalSkin Europe Regional Network meeting.

This meeting was for all Patient Organisations within Europe to discuss ideas for a European project that would benefit all European POs. This will be developed in future GlobalSkin Coffee chat meetings in the coming months.
16.45pm and Trina has an evening to rest and recuperate.
Thank you again to Trina. This looks like a very long day for you but a very productive day for PEM Friends.
As ever watch this space for the report on Day 3.
